Warming up, snow chance up north.

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

TONIGHT:
Skies are partly cloudy to mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the mid to low teens. Some places further to the east will have upper single digits like Ashland, Mercer, Ironwood, and low to mid single digits in Grand Marais. The warmer air is coming from the southwest, so expect warmer temps the further southwest you go. A small mid level low pressure system sits on the south side of Lake Winnipeg. This could bring some snow showers for Lake and Cook Counties, even around Ely could see some light snow tonight.

FRIDAY:
The mid level low pressure system moves over Northern Minnesota keeping areas north of Duluth under clouds and bringing snow showers to Ely, Grand Marais and places north east of Silver Bay. To the south expect less clouds but still mostly cloudy conditions. High temps are much warmer with highs in the 20s. Expect low to mid 20s for the most part with some upper 20s to the south around Hayward, Spooner, and Hinckley. Duluth has a 30% chance of a few flurries, but the best chance is again northeast of Silver Bay with a 50% shot. Winds are out of the east at 4-8mph.

WEEKEND:
Saturday we have a low pressure system to the south and a high pressure system to the north. These two work together to bring us an eastern flow and a 30% chance of lake effect snow in Duluth. The best chance is north of Two Harbors to Grand Marais with a 60% chance of some bands developing. Around A trace of snow to 1” can be expected in Duluth and around 2-5” for areas north and east of Two Harbors. Morning lows are around 20 and highs reach the mid 20s by the afternoon.

Sunday there’s a high pressure to our south, around Kansas, and this high will keep us dry but will bring a western wind with warmer temps that will override cooler air at the surface bringing mostly cloudy to cloudy skies. Morning lows are in the upper teens and highs reach the upper 20s.

WARMER TEMPS:
Monday is mild with partly cloudy skies. Lows are near 20 and highs are around 30 as a weak ridge swings over the two state area.

SMALL CHANCE OF SNOW:
A shortwave pushes in on Tuesday and we see a 30% chance of snow. It has some colder air behind it but our temperatures remain above average with lows in the upper teens and highs in the mid 20s. Wednesday we have our cool off with more seasonable temps.
