DULUTH, MN – A complete revamp of Duluth’s can of worms is getting a major boost from the federal government.
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Thursday it’s allocating $20 million in grant money to the project.
The interchange connects I-35, I-535 and Highway 53.
The project calls for replacing aging ramps and bridges in order to accommodate better freight movement into and out of the Port of Duluth.
Safety improvements are also slated for the project, which is expected to get underway in 2020.
