Body camera video shows moments leading up to officer-involved shooting

SUPERIOR, WI – We’re getting a look at the moments leading up to an officer-involved shooting in Superior last month.

Superior Police on Wednesday released video from police body cameras from the October incident.

The clips show officers asking Joshua Farmer to remove his hand from his pocket. He refuses and tells them he has a gun and is going to shoot them.

Police fired 31 shots at Farmer. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Farmer was suspected of stealing an alcoholic beverage from a business on Belknap Street, according to a criminal complaint.

On Tuesday, a prosecutor said the three officers, George Gothner, Michael Kendall and Christopher Woolery, were justified in using deadly force.

Farmer is charged with three felony counts of threatening a law enforcement officer with a dangerous weapon among others.

A warrant remained out for his arrest Wednesday.

All three officers are back at work.
