Bulldog alum Billy Exell signs with Wichita Thunder

WICHITA, KS — Former University of Minnesota Duluth forward Billy Exell officially signed a contract with the Wichita Thunder of the AHL on Tuesday.

The Thunder are the AHL affiliate for the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers. Exell’s deal is a standard player contract.

Exell was an alternate captain on UMD’s national championship team last season, earning his second NCAA national championship ring. He also won a Robertson Cup during his junior hockey career with the NAHL’s Minnesota Wilderness in Cloquet, MN.
