DULUTH, MN- 62 junior golfers will be hitting the links this week on Duluth’s public courses.

And it’s all a part of the Minnesota PGA Junior event.

The golf outing began today at Lester Park Golf Course and will continue tomorrow at Enger Park Golf Course.

Participants range from 10 years old to 17 years old. Some have even traveled far as there are golfers from North Dakota and south of the Twin Cities.

Mike Bender, PGA general manager says this event gives golfers an opportunity to compete during their off-season.

“Just seeing the kids out on the golf course in the summertime. The high school golf season is great and there seems to be a little bit of break in July and August. The Minnesota PGA has done a really good job of keeping kids engaged throughout the entire summer all over the state,” said Bender.

“Duluth is a pretty fun place to golf. Like Enger and Lester, they’re pretty hard golf courses to golf at. So, they’re pretty competitive,” added golfer, Kiernan Smith.
