DULUTH, MN – Both the men’s and women’s St. Scholastica tennis programs are heading to the NCAA D-III Tournament.

It’s no surprise, the Saints have dominated the UMAC for decades behind head coach and local tennis guru Wells Patten.

“I think it’ll sink in, honestly when we get there. Especially for the men, being there for the first time, I don’t think they really understand what to expect,” said Patten. “Going on the women’s side, going for the last four years, as a coach I know what to expect.”

The women’s team will take on UW-Whitewater on Friday morning, while men’s team will take on Grinnel (Iowa) in Chicago later that afternoon.

KBJR 6 sports reporter Matt Halverson features the Saints, and their pipeline of local talent in a team edition of Athlete of the Week.
