DULUTH, MN (UMD Press Release) – Cameron Hausman accounted for all of the night’s scoring in the 45th annual University of Minnesota Duluth Maroon-White Spring Game as the rising senior placekicker nailed a pair of first-half field goals in a 6-0 Maroon victory Friday at James S. Malosky Stadium.
Hausman hit from 37 yards out in the first quarter to cap off an 11-play, 55-yard scoring drive then connected on a 36-yard field goal with 4:46 to go before halftime. Maroon sophomore quarterback Garrett Olson, who saw spot duty with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champion Bulldogs last fall, connected on seven of 15 passes for 84 yards with one pick while his White counterpart, redshirt freshman Keagan Calchera, threw for 83 yards after going 6-for-16. Five of Olson’s six completions landed in the hands of sophomore Dain Hudson. Hudson and White senior wide out Obi Ibeneme (a team-high five catches) each finished with 62 receptions yards.
The Maroons held the Whites to -37 yards of ground offense thanks in part to five quarterback sacks — including two by sophomore defensive lineman Tyler Keech. Maroon defensive end Dan Monson and redshirt freshman linebacker Brad Dati were each credited with a team-leading three total tackles. Sophomore linebacker Javien Versey had a hand in six tackles (all solos) and one quarterback sack to pace the Whites while his teammate, redshirt defensive back Branden Matteen, had the game’s lone interception.
