MINNEAPOLIS, MN- Minneapolis North would use a late 2nd half push to defeat Esko 61 to 53 on Wednesday in the Class AA quarterfinals.

Payton Wefel would lead Esko with 16 points.

Esko will now play in the consolation semifinals on Thursday at 8pm on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul.

“Anytime you’ve got Trev, Wefer, Berger getting it going, we say to find the hot hand and keep feeding them, I thought the kids did a good job of that tonight, Wefel got it going and the kids were looking for him which is always nice, you know that’s really a team effort like we talk about. Nobody is selfish and saying well I want my points. They’re looking for that guy and just trying to find him,” said Head Coach Derek Anderson.

“I saw players slipping and the ball just come out, they tipped the ball around a lot and they got a lot of hands on the ball but, I mean… got to take care of the ball,” added Junior Guard Payton Wefel.
