DULUTH,MN – For the first time in 15 years, the UMD basketball programs will host a NSIC tournament doubleheader. The women’s team will start Wednesday evening at 5:30P.M. with Southwest Minnesota State.

Back in December 2018, the Bulldogs handled the Mustangs by coming away with a 60-39 victory. UMD closed out the regular season by winning 9 out of its last 10.

The team says it’s an exciting time of the year.

“We need to come out ready to go right away. Last time we played them, the first quarter was a little rough. We weren’t ready to go with the energy. The defense was a lot with the press break and I think we know what we’re heading up against in this game so it’ll be fun.” said senior forward Emma Bohem.

“They’re good, we struggled against them in the first quarter and then we were able to flip a switch and come out strong and play a really good defensive game the rest of the way. They’re going to come out strong. They’re aggressive, they can score and we have to be ready defensively.” said head coach Mandy Pearson.
