Jason Balts has a new role with UMD football

DULUTH,MN – Spring training is right around the corner. The UMD coaching staff is shaping up and a familiar face is now taking on a new role. Jason Balts will join the staff as the Running Backs Coach.

The Barron,WI native was a 3 year starter and a two time captain for the Bulldogs. He earned first team NSIC honors in 2017. Balts was the 6th Bulldog to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark in a single season.

He played in four games in 2018 before suffering a season ending injury. Balts considered coming back for his 6th season as a player but decided to enter the coaching world. Balts says he’s excited to learn in his new role.
