DULUTH,MN –  The Duluth native is back in his homeland. Duluth Denfeld graduate and now St. Cloud State head men’s hockey coach Brett Larson is back in Amsoil Arena. This will be the first time a UMD alum will face off against his old team since 2000. The former UMD coach was with the program from 2008-2011, and then again from 2015-18.

“Well it is exciting to come home and to see a lot of friends and family, I went to the high school hockey game last night and saw quite a few people that all wish me good luck but not this weekend, it was kinda fun to see a lot of people. Your first time as a head coach, things are coming at you quick and it can be a little overwhelming at times but obviously, I had this date circled on my calendar, knowing it would be fun coming home. More than anything, I am more excited, obviously there’s a lot of mutual respect between the programs, and I have so much respect for Scott and the staff here. I know it’s going to be a great series and you know, it’s two of the best college hockey teams in the country going after it, what more fun than that?” said Larson.
