Hibbing, Hayward set record low temperatures Thursday morning

DULUTH, MN– Usually when the calendar turns to June, you would think temperatures would be warming up, however that wasn’t the case Thursday morning.

Temperatures were cold enough to prompt a frost advisory for the Iron Range, Twin Ports, East Central MN and Douglas County, with both Hibbing and Hayward setting a new record daily low temperature.

  • Hibbing (Low: 28 degrees, previous record: 30 degrees in 1969)
  • Hayward (Low: 31 degrees, previous record: 35 degrees in 2012)

Thursday was the third day in a row where Hibbing broke the daily low temperature.

Here are some of the coldest temperatures recorded across the Northland from Thursday morning:

  • Brimson: 27 degrees
  • Crane Lake: 28 degrees
  • Hibbing: 28 degrees
  • Cotton: 29 degrees
  • Skibo: 29 degrees
  • Seagull Lake: 29 degrees
  • Floodwood: 30 degrees
  • Aitkin: 30 degrees
  • Silver Bay: 30 degrees
  • Barnes: 31 degrees
  • Hayward: 31 degrees
  • Ashland: 32 degrees
  • Solon Springs: 32 degrees
  • Eveleth-Virginia: 32 degrees
  • Siren: 33 degrees
  • Superior: 33 degrees
  • Ely: 34 degrees
  • Glidden: 34 degrees
  • Duluth Airport: 40 degrees
