Saturday declared ‘Joe Mauer Day’ across Minnesota

ST. PAUL, MN — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has declared Saturday, June 15 as “Joe Mauer Day” in recognition of the former Minnesota Twins catcher’s legacy, as well as his contributions to Minnesota sports.

Walz presented the proclamation to Mauer at Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.

A retirement ceremony for Mauer’s number will be held during Saturday’s pregame show.

Mauer played for the Twins for 15 years.
