DULUTH, MN– What Fuels You? It’s a loaded question as climate change is at the forefront of a national conversation.
There’s a group of people going on a road trip to different cities across Minnesota, showcasing the benefits of traveling by electric vehicles.
They’re filming it all and putting it online.
“Just showcasing electrification transportation and how you can get around to lots of different communities and charge up your vehicle,” says Erika Gilsdorf, producer of “What Fuels You- An Electric Road Trip.”
What Fuels You is a Web Series meant to motivate people and businesses to do things differently for the planet.
Gilsdorf says, “lots of different people doing things to change their footprint to think creatively and they’re helping the environment.”
The 100% EV-Chevy Bolt made a stop in Duluth at Canal Park Brewing Tuesday, inspired by its recent award as Best Solar Brew Pub in the Country, after the installation of Solar Panels on their roof.
Head Brewer at Canal Park Brewing, Ben Gipson says, “our main mission is not only to be able to create a high-quality beer with using as many natural resources as we can, but it’s also to kind of pave the way for other local businesses that’s interested in doing the same thing.”
With some major sponsors helping fuel the 25-story series including General Mills, The American Lung Association, The Minnesota Department of Transportation, and Minnesota Power.
“We just think it’s a really great, fun way to highlight work that our customers are doing and work that Minnesota Power is doing as an energy leader in the state,” says Paul Helstrom, Senior Customer Services & Program Representative at Minnesota Power.
Producers of the series are hoping it will encourage communities to consume less and make environmentally friendly better choices. Gilsdorf says, “how you can reduce is what we’re talking about. How you can choose what you buy. How you can drive differently.”
They are hoping by highlighting people doing good, other’s will follow suit. “All different kinds of walks of life are really getting involved in making a difference,” says Gilsdorf.
The Electric Road Trip made a stop in Virginia and Bemidji before heading to St. Cloud and back to the cities this week.
They hope to take this first leg of the series from the midwest to the west coast.
The videos will start to be released on the series Twitter page @whatfuelsyouusa starting mid-November through December 16.
