Bayfield County welcomes K9 Parker

WASHBURN, WI — There’s a new face on the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office team – and he has four legs and a tail.

According to a Facebook post Thursday, K9 Parker is now a member of the Sheriff’s office.

However, before he officially hits the streets, he’ll need five weeks of training with his handler, Deputy Matt Leino.

Once training is done, they’ll be patrolling the roads together.

Earlier this year, the Sheriff’s Office said they needed an in-house K-9 due to illegal drug use becoming too common in the region.

Up until now, Bayfield County would bring in a K-9 from other agencies if help was needed.
