St. Paul police investigate double shooting near Allianz Field during MN United playoff game

ST PAUL (KARE-TV) — A shooter is in custody and a gun was recovered after a double shooting that occurred near Allianz Field Sunday night, according to police.

The incident occurred at around 7:35 p.m. in a parking lot at Pascal Street and University Avenue, while thousands of fans gathered nearby for the MN United playoff game that kicked off at 7:30 p.m.

Police say two male victims are being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds. One had a grazed gunshot wound to the head and was also shot in the arm. The second victim was shot multiple times in the torso.

Witnesses told police a group of people were behind the laundromat when another group passed by and began exchanging gunfire.

At least two people were shooting, according to police.

Police don’t believe the shooting was random.
