DULUTH–Comic book fans in the Northland came together today at the first annual Dulucon.

The event is being held at the encounter.

It features booths with tabletop games, cosplay contests, vendors, and an escape room.
Attendees dressed up as their favorite comic book characters.

Event organizers had humble expectations going into the first year of Dulucon but the event sold out.

“Well there’s been a need in the community we’ve seen there’s a lot of different pockets of people that like to get together and do this sort of thing and there’s never been a huge event that brings them all together and we weren’t anticipating this huge so we’re really thrilled with how many people showed up today, ” Mimi Effinger an event organizer said.

Dulucon began on Friday, and ends Saturday.

Due to the weekend’s success, organizers say there are already plans in the works for next year’s convention.
