DULUTH, MN– The first few days of October are upon us and some woke up to the first snowfall of the year.
But this is also the time of the year when the Fall colors begin to peak across the Northland.
Here’s the latest fall colors update:
U.P.: Gogebic and Ontonagon counties were seeing 40 to 75 percent color, with the most being reported in western Gogebic county. Portions of Baraga county, which is west of Marquette, is reporting 60 to 80 percent color
WISCONSIN: Most areas are seeing anywhere from 50 to 75 percent. You can find the most color around the Cable, Hurley and Ashland areas, where 75 to 80 percent color is being reported. Forty to 50 percent color is begin reported in Burnett and Washburn counties.
MINNESOTA: A good chunk of northern Minnesota, including the Twin Ports, is seeing at least 75 percent color and approaching peak in some areas. The least color is being reported in southern Cass, Crow Wing and southwestern Aitkin counties.
LAST WEEK: Areas in and around Ely were seeing at least 75 percent color. Most of northern Minnesota was seeing 50 to 75 percent color. Hurley was seeing 70 percent color, with the rest of northern Wisconsin seeing 25 to 50 percent color. The least amount of color was being reported in Crow Wing, southern Cass, Burnett, and Washburn counties.
