Morning fire damages Hibbing structure

UPDATE: Hibbing home damaged in Wednesday fire

HIBBING, MN — The Hibbing Fire Department says a home on the 300 block on 41st East has been damaged following a fire early Wednesday morning.

When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the back of a single family home, and were able to quickly put out the fire.

The house received fire, smoke, and water damage, but damage estimates aren’t available at this time.

The fire didn’t spread to any other structures.

The fire’s cause and origin is being investigated by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Hibbing Fire Department.

Officials want to remind people to check their smoke alarms and promote fire safety.

Authorities say the fire possibly started in the kitchen.

At this point, it’s unclear how much damage was done. Fire officials say the cause is under in investigation, but they do not believe it is suspicious at this time.

No word on if anyone was injured.
