2020 Duluth street projects announced

DULUTH, MN — Duluth city officials have announced which street projects funded by the sales tax will be worked on in 2020.

Mayor Emily Larson and Public Works Director Jim Benning made the announcement early Wednesday afternoon at Duluth’s City Hall.

Larson and Benning said in all, 18.6 miles of work will be done starting in May, and will wrap up in the fall.

Emily Ranta lives in the Duluth Heights Neighborhood and says the rough streets have caused some chalenges raising her daughter.

“For learning how to ride a bike we will probably have to take her to the local church parking lot,” Ranta said.

The roads chosen, which can be found below or by clicking here on a mobile device, were chosen in part by geographic equity and dispersion.

In addition, meetings will be held throughout the next three months regarding topics such as sales tax street projects, street maintenance and snow removal operations, as well as other issues which are important to them.

The schedule of meetings, which will be called City Hall in the City community listening sessions, are as follows:

September

  • Ordean Building – Conference Room A from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19th
  • Portman Community Center – 601 McCulloch Street from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24th
  • Morgan Park Community Center – 1242 88th Avenue West from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26th

October

  • Harrison Community Center – 3002 W. 3rd Street from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1st
  • Woodland Recreation Center – 3211 Allendale Avenue from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 3rd

November

  • Lafayette Community Center – 3026 Minnesota Avenue from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13th
  • Denfeld High School Cafeteria – 401 N. 44th Avenue West from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 18th
  • Grant Recreation center – 901 E. 11th Street from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20th
