ASHLAND, WI– A few miles out of town in Ashland you can hear the roaring of race cars circling the track.

The ABC Raceway has been holding speed car races on Saturday’s for 54-years.

The track is run and operated completely by volunteers.

It hosts everything for classic races, to special events including kids night and their biggest crowd-pleaser, the Red Clay Classic.

Those who volunteer their time to keep the track up and running say the Ashland community is lucky to have the raceway.

President of the Ashland Bayfield County Raceway Association, Erick Erickson says, “It’s a big deal for the area. You know some people may not realize that. But if you bring in 1,000 to 1,500 people per week on a Satuday and then our year end event you’re up to 6,000 people. It’s something, it’s a huge economic factor that they don’t realize.”

The 44th Annual Red Clay Classic is on September 27 and 28.
