Ribbon cutting ceremony in Ashland marks end of solar energy project

ASHLAND, WI– A ribbon cutting ceremony in Ashland on Tuesday marked the opening of a solar garden.

The solar garden, which is part of the Solar Connect Community program which is put on by Xcel energy, can be subscribed to by customers.

Customers can choose the percentage of electricity that they want to be covered by solar energy.

The opening of the garden signifies the completion of the program, which allowed other solar gardens to open in Eau Claire and La Crosse.

Currently, around 150 subscribers use the program.
