U.S. Senator Baldwin visits ballast water testing facility at UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, WI — Wisconsin U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin visited UW-Superior’s Ballast Water Testing Facility Thursday.

According to Baldwin, she wanted to see firsthand how the research hub is working to protect the Great Lakes from invasive species and threats to Wisconsin’s water resources.

The visit comes after Baldwin recently introduced bipartisan legislation to reauthorize and expand funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.

“We have to do everything possible to protect the largest source of fresh drinking water in the world,” said Baldwin.

Baldwin also canoed the Brule River with trout anglers and fish conservation groups to highlight Wisconsin’s conservation efforts.
