Teen injured in water tubing accident

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN– A 17-year-old from South Dakota is injured following a water tubing incident Saturday.

Around 3:20 p.m., Saint Louis County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the water emergency at the Whiteface Reservoir, which is about 10 miles south of Hoyt Lakes.

The 17-year-old male had been water tubing with two other people behind a Sea-Doo Jet Ski when he was ejected from the tube and injured.

The two other people who were on the same tube as the victim were not injured.

Life Link lll air medical transported the teen to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies were assisted by the Saint Louis County Rescue Squad, Palo First Responders, and the Hoyt Lakes Fire and Ambulance service.
