Alexandria woman seriously injured in Cass County ATV crash

BACKUS, MN — A 58-year-old Alexandria, Minnesota woman is recovering from serious injuries following a Father’s Day ATV crash in Cass County.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Spider Lake Recreation Area in Ansel Township, rural Backus in the Foothills State Forest just after 2 p.m.

Authorities say Mary Hedstrom was driving her ATV when she lost control of the vehicle while trying to make a sharp turn, causing her to leave the trail and roll down an embankment.

Hedstrom was then taken to a Brainerd hospital.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
