Lakewalk reconstruction slated to begin next week

DULUTH, MN– Crews are expected to start repairing a section of Duluth’s Lakewalk that was damaged during destructive storms soon.

According to the City of Duluth, crews will begin repair work on Phase 2, which involves reconstructing the shoreline from Fitger’s to the Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial, on Monday.

During that time, they’ll also be replacing the asphalt and boardwalk trails.

Work is expected to wrap up by the beginning of August, when the Lakewalk will reopen to the public.

Signs are in place around the Lakewalk construction zone sharing detour routes with the public.

Portions of Lakewalk were damaged during a series of storms.
