Prescribed wildfire burns wrapping up in Northland

LAKE COUNTY, MN – U.S. Forest Service prescribed burns are winding down as trees and grass are starting to green.

They were able to accomplish more here in the Northland than in past years due to prime weather conditions.

Prescribed fires are intended to reduce the risk of wildfires that could threaten people and property.

The trees and grass greening up also reduces the fire risk, but the forest service says it’s still important for people to be careful with fire and pay attention to fire restrictions.
