Fire pit possible cause for overnight porch fire in Duluth

DULUTH, MN– An early morning porch fire in rural Duluth was quickly contained.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says the Gnesen Fire Department along with Sheriff’s deputies responded to a house fire on the 7000 block of Van Road in Duluth just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

Crews were able to contain and put out the fire before it spread and caused damage to the home.
The residents of the home were not injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but a homemade fire pit may have contributed to the start of the fire.
