Police: Man arrested following shooting in Virginia

UPDATE:

VIRGINIA, MN — The Virginia Police Department arrested a 23 year old man Monday evening in conjunction with a shooting that occurred in Virginia on Sunday April 28, 2019

We are still actively investigating this incident, executing search warrants and speaking with witnesses.

VIRGINIA, MN — Police say a man is recovering after being shot in the leg Sunday in Virginia.

According to police, officers were called to the 100 block of 10th Street South for the sound of three gun shots just after 5 p.m.

Officials say dispatch told officers that witnesses in the area saw a white extended cab Dodge truck speeding away from the area, before it apparently ran a red light on Highway 53 and 2nd Avenue South.

Witnesses said the truck then drove south on Highway 53.

A few minutes later, police were notified a man was in the Emergency Room with a non-threatening wound.

Police say the incident is under investigation. Virginia Police did not say if the parties involved are known to each other.
