Moose Lake, Deer River receive ‘Safe Route to School’ grants

ST. PAUL, MN — Two towns in our region are getting a helping hand as they try to make it safer for students to get to school.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Monday a $2.3 million grant for its Safe Routes to School.

Moose Lake and Deer River will each get a share of that money.

They plan to use it to make it build new sidewalks, trails, and crosswalks, all in an effort to make it easier for kids to walk or bicycle to school.
