DULUTH, MN – Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Chester Creek.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, a passerby spotted the body around 4:30 p.m.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the area where East 8th and 9th Streets come together in Duluth’s East Hillside neighborhood.
St. Louis County Under Sheriff Dave Phillips said the area where the body was located was challenging for crews.
“They’re in the shadows. It’s not getting a lot of sunlight there. There is still snow and ice in the area. It’s really challenging for the teams down there due to the steep incline at the base of the creek,” Phillips said.
There was no immediate word how long the body may have been in the creek.
The sheriff’s office is warning people to be cautious this time of year due to slippery conditions along the creek.
