UPDATE: Over 1,700 Minnesota Power customers impacted by power outages Wednesday

UPDATE: More than 1,700 Minnesota Power customers are being affected by a power outage throughout the region at this point, but the numbers continue to change.

In downtown Duluth there are currently more than 1,200 people without power, and the Hoyt Lakes area is now impacted, according to the Minnesota Power Outage Map.

The outage map continues to update as crews get to work.

DULUTH, MN – There are four outages impacting Duluth right now that began around 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Minnesota Power Outage Map.

KBJR 6 reached out to Minnesota Power, and their spokesperson said they have a main feeder locked out impacting downtown Duluth customers.

Minnesota Power does not know the cause at this time, but are working on the issue.

The Minnesota Power website says approximately 1,453 customers are impacted.

The outages are expected to be restored by 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Over 80 customers are impacted by two outages in the Cloquet/Esko area; those outages are estimates to be restored at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
