City of Duluth: Blacktop prices increase about 32% due in large part to Husky Refinery Explosion

DULUTH, MN – Duluth could be shelling out a lot more cash to fix our roads in 2019.

Right now, the city has 5,500 tons of blacktop budgeted for the upcoming construction season.

The city says prices have increased by about 32 percent since 2018, due in large part to the Husky Refinery Explosion last April.

You’ll remember that explosion spilled thousands of gallons of liquid ashpalt.

There is no word yet on exactly how much the asphalt will cost.
