Duluth JCPenney safe from latest round of closings

DULUTH, MN — JCPenney has announced it will close 18 full-line stores this year, but the Duluth location in the Miller Hill Mall will stay open.

The closures are in addition to the three locations announced in January.

The company says it will also close nine ancillary home and furniture stores.

When asked about store closings in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, company officials responded by saying it will close a store located in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

That store currently has a closing date of July 5th.

Nearly all of the stores expected to close this year are expected to do so in the second quarter of 2019.
