The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northland released the following details:
“Alex Lewis is a 15-year-old member at the Lincoln Park Boys and Girls Club in Duluth, Minnesota. Alex has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club since 2009. Alex is a very talented musician, he sings and plays the guitar at open mics around Duluth with a mix of cover songs and some originals he’s written. Alex comes to the club every day, is kind to members of all ages, and is always more than willing to help the staff is needed. This year Alex is running for Youth of the Year for the first time, and is very excited for the chance to meet new people and experience another opportunity the club has to offer.”
DULUTH, MN– The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northland, along with local business leaders, will join teenagers being honored at the annual “Youth of the Year” celebration Tuesday.
The event is a way to recognize outstanding work with the Boys and Girls Club, the community and family, academic success, strong moral character, life goals and public speaking abilities.
Members are between age 14 and 18.
You can check out the celebration at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Downtown Duluth.
During the event, a panel of judges from the community will interview the nominees and hear their stories. The judges then select a winner, who will participate in a state competition, with a chance to compete at the national level.
The National Youth of the Year winner could win up to $50,000 in scholarships, which is installed by the President.
