16-year-old boy in custody for February 1 shooting

DULUTH, MN — Duluth Police say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested for a shooting in Duluth’s East Hillside neighborhood earlier this month.

Officials say the teen, who was arrested without incident on Friday afternoon, is being held at the Arrowhead Juvenile Detention center.

Formal charges are pending, and the incident remains under investigation.

On February 1st, police say a crash at 10th Avenue East and 3rd Street led to the discovery of a shooting victim.

Officers found one person in the rear seat passenger seat, an 18-year-old male, had been shot when they arrived on the scene.

Police say the shooting allegedly happened before the crash, however we still do not know where the shooting happened.

The shooting victim received non-life threatening injuries.
