Ashland City Council approves creation of redevelopment authority for new police station

ASHLAND, WI — The Ashland City Council is one step closer to approving funds for a new police station.

Councilors approved the creation of a redevelopment authority, also known as an RDA, during Tuesday night’s meeting by a vote of seven to four.

The RDA would be made of city council representatives and community members, and must be created in order to take advantage of a possible future USDA loan.

A future vote will still be needed to approve the funding for the new station.

The police department is currently housed in the city hall basement, and have been in the location for about 45 years.
