Cook County Sheriff’s Office issues phone scam warning

GRAND MARAIS, MN – The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about a phone scam.

The sheriff’s office says people are getting calls with a prerecorded message offering pain relief bracelets.

The call is originating from the sheriff’s non-emergency number, 218-387-3030.

Like other telephone scam calls, the caller has obtained a way to mask the call with a local phone number, the sheriff’s office said in an email.

The sheriff’s office says it’s not making the calls and it would never offer any sales.

If you get a similar call, you’re asked to hang up.
