Field set in race for empty St. Louis County Board seat

UPDATE: A sixth candidate has entered the race for the St. Louis County Board.

Robert Wagner, who currently serves on the Lakewood Town Board, filed for the District 5 seat Tuesday afternoon.

He joins fellow candidates Wayne Boucher, Keith MacDonald, Keith Musolf, Kal Randa, and Timothy Herstad.

Because more than three candidates filed, a special primary is set for May with the special general election scheduled for August.

DULUTH, MN — The field is now officially set in the race to fill an empty seat on the St. Louis County Board.

The deadline to file for the District 5 seat was 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The candidates include: Wayne Boucher, Keith MacDonald, Keith Musolf, Kal Randa, and Timothy Herstad.

Because more than three candidates filed, a special primary is set for May with the special general election scheduled for August.

Boucher is the current mayor of Hermantown, and MacDonald served as the Hermantown mayor from 2004 to 2008.

Musolf is a Midway Township resident. He has also been an activist union member for more than ten years with the Ironworkers Local 512.

Kal Randa graduated from Hermantown High School in 2015 and is nearing graduation from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a B.A. in Political Science.

Herstad is a long time St. Louis County resident who currently works in sales for a small company.
