On the opening day of filing Tuesday, two candidates have officially filed to run for the empty seat on the St. Louis County Board.
Wayne Boucher and Keith MacDonald filed for the District 5 seat.
Boucher is the current Hermantown Mayor. During a news conference Tuesday morning, he pointed out his 18 years of experience serving the city in the mayor’s office and also as a city councilor.
Meanwhile, MacDonald is a former Hermantown mayor, serving from 2004 to 2008. He’s also been an insurance agent for the last 30 years.
Interested parties have until March 5 to file for candidacy.
The seat was vacated when Pete Stauber was elected to the U.S. Congress.
