Drivers asked to use more caution, slow down ahead of rut season

DULUTH, MN — Deer are very active this time of year, and drivers are being asked to be more cautious.

Since September 1, Bayfield County authorities say there have been 58 crashes involving deer.

In St. Louis County, authorities say they have seen 23 of them, including one involving a county squad car.

Drivers should pay close attention to the road and slow down at night.

Authorities say even slowing down five miles can make a difference.
