34 properties sold in tax-forfeited land auction

DULUTH, MN — St. Louis County officials say dozens of tax-forfeited properties are still available on a first-come, first-serve basis following land auction Thursday.

34 properties were sold for a total of $596,480, including two houses, a cabin, a large commercial building, and several properties where blighted buildings had been demolished.

According to St. Louis County officials, there are more than 250 properties available for sale, which can be found by clicking here.

Although this was the final tax-forfeited land auction of the year, officials say additional auctions will be held next year in February, June and October.

County officials say there are nearly 900,000 acres of tax-forfeited land, and although most of the land is used for forest management, parcels not planned for management are being sold to help increase the property tax base, and to encourage development.
