Locations outlined for Iron Range school collaboration proposal

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

In just a few weeks, voters on the Iron Range will decide if two school districts should become one. Now, the Eveleth, Gilbert, and Virginia communities are getting a better idea of where the new schools would be located.

According to the Mesabi Daily Press, students in 7th through 12th grade would attend a new career academy in the Midway area.

Students in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade in Eveleth-Gilbert would attend school at a “new neutral site” south of the academy.

In Virginia, students pre-kindergarten through 2nd grade would attend Parkview Elementary. The present Roosevelt school will be taken down, and a new school would be built attached to the gymnasium, and will house 3rd through 6th grades.

Voters will decide whether to approve the collaboration plan on May 14.
