The future of two Iron Range school districts will now be up to the voters.

Thursday night, both the Eveleth-Gilbert and Virginia school boards unanimously gave their approval to a plan that would combine the two town’s high schools into one and build new elementary schools.

The final decision will be up to the voters on May 14, according to the Mesabi Daily News.

The project would be partially taxpayer funded with some funding from the state.
