Douglas County District Attorney: No charges in immediate future against Patterson

SUPERIOR, WI — The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office doesn’t anticipate filing a criminal complaint against Jayme Closs’ alleged kidnapper in the immediate future.

The District Attorney’s Office says the decision whether to file criminal charges against 21-year-old Jake Patterson involves the consideration of multiple factors, which includes the other existing charges and victim-related concerns.

However, the District Attorney’s office still has the ability to charge Patterson at any time within the statute of limitations for any crime the office determines he committed.

Patterson is already facing two counts of murder and kidnapping in Barron County, and is being held on a five million dollar cash bail.
