Closs to appear on cover of People magazine, other abduction survivors speak out

NEW YORK — Jayme Closs is being featured on the cover of an upcoming edition of People magazine.

Closs’ case has captured national attention, and the magazine talks with her relatives about Jayme’s first days at home after escaping her alleged kidnapper, Jake Patterson.

Although described as quiet and shy like her mother, Denise, who was shot and killed with her husband and Jayme’s father, James, the night of the abduction, Denise’s cousin Jodie Arnold told people Jayme “is a complete badass. She saved herself!”.

People magazine also spoke with James’ high school basketball teammate Todd Rongstad, who says “If you knew Jayme’s father, you’d know where she got her strength. Jim wouldn’t accept defeat.”

Kidnapping survivors Michelle Knight, now known as Lily Rose Lee, Jaycee Dugard and Elizabeth Smart all sound off in the article, as well.
