Patterson applied for job in Superior the day before Jayme Closs escaped

SUPERIOR, WI — We’re learning more about Jake Patterson, Jayme Closs’ alleged kidnapper, and his ties to Superior.

It appears Patterson applied to work at a Superior business, the day before Jayme’s heroic escape.

According to documents obtained by KARE-TV in Minneapolis, Patterson applied to work at Saratoga Liquor store in Superior, which is nearly 50 miles from where Jayme was held captive.

In his application, Patterson wrote “I’m an honest and hardworking guy. Not much work experience, but I show up to work and I’m a quick learner.”

According to our sister station, Patterson did not list his short stints with Jennie-O Turkey and Saputo Cheese on his application.

On the work history portion of the application, there appears to be some embelishment.

Patterson listed the following places of employment:

Quanex Building Products, Rice Lake, Oct ’16-Jan ’17.

Marine Corps Boot Camp, San Diego, Apr ’17-Dec ’17.

Bohman Concrete, Hayward, WI, Apr ’18-Nov ’18.

Bohman Concrete representatives confirmed to KBJR 6 Wednesday that Patterson was never employed by their company.

If the employment dates for Bohman Concrete are accurate, it means he would have been employed at the time of the kidnapping.

Authorities say Patterson wasn’t employed when Jayme was kidnapped.

Additionally, the Marine Corps says they kicked Patterson out after just five weeks.
