Woman attempts to stab St. Paul officer with screwdriver

ST PAUL, MN (KARE-TV) — A St. Paul police officer was working off-duty when a woman attempted to stab him with a screwdriver Tuesday evening.

Articia Latroyce Moore, 23, of St. Paul has been charged with one count of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault for this incident.

Moore tried stabbing the officer after he attempted to stop her for shoplifting, according to police.

Her first stabbing attempt was with a screwdriver, which did not penetrate his ballistic vest but did knock off his camera, police said. Moore then used a knife and cut the officer on the arm.

The officer was able to bring Moore to the ground and hold her until additional officers arrived.

The officer did not require medical attention.

This incident marks the third physical altercation Moore has had with St. Paul police in the last couple of months.

On Aug. 21, 2019,  Moore punched an officer in the face and repeatedly attempted to bite and kick officers while being taken into custody, police said. She was arrested for assault.

On Aug. 31, 2019, officers were called on Moore, who was harassing people near 6th Street and Wacouta Street, police said. She was arrested for obstructing the legal process after several officers arrived to assist in taking her into custody.
