DULUTH, MN — The start of school is just around the corner!
One area organization is doing what they can to make it easier on kids and parents alike.
Since the start of August, Head of the Lakes United Way has been collecting school supplies, donated by the public, to give to schools along the North Shore and in Superior.
It’s all part of the “Stuff the Bus” school readiness program, which aims to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.
Organizers say they collected and handed out more than 4,000 items last year, and, this time around, they’re expecting even more.
“It’s for kids,” Outreach Coordinator Taire Lind Suliin says. “That’s what really tugs at our heart strings all the time is what kids need, what they want, to make sure that kids are all going to school on an equal playing field — to make sure that they all have the opportunities to learn.”
