Duluth Air Show arrives this weekend

DULUTH,MN– Minnesota’s largest air show and exposition are here in the Twin Ports. The Duluth Air Show hosts a multitude of aviation entertainment and educational exhibits for aviation fans and experts to get Minnesotan’s interested in aviation.

While it may have been raining when gates opened at 9 a.m.

Locals and visitors have been gathering all day at the Duluth Airport to admire their favorite planes by getting up close and personal with them.

But it didn’t stop aviation fans from experiencing Minnesota’s largest air show today.

Captain Mark Solomon says there’s, “nothing better than watching the blue angels. I’m just amazed at the precision with which our naval aviators fly.”

Showgoers have the opportunity to learn more about the history behind all the different planes.

Commander Joann Friesz says, “It’s certainly wonderful to see the aircraft here. A lot of them date back to World War two.”

Some visitors have even had careers in aviation or served in the military.

Jim Mullmam says, “I love airplanes, I’ve spent half my life in aviation. I work in aviation still so I was even in the navy, I worked on the airplanes.”

Mullmam adds he loves being able to share his knowledge of planes with his children.

The goal of the air show is to promote aviation education and provide entertainment to those in Minnesota.

The show continues tomorrow, gates open at 9 a.m. and the show goes until 6 p.m.
